Consumed

The fire consumes me
But I am only wax
Helpless to do anything but watch
As I feel my life force slip away

The fire consumes me
And I am the flame
Burning the wick, the wax
Burning it all, uncaring

The fire consumes me
I try to shield my eyes
But it burns so brightly
I cannot see

The fire consumes me
And the flame burns
So quickly, so fiercely
So uncompromisingly
I see little
But I do know with certainty
The flame is about to die
